Airoha appoints Chris Kao as Corporate Chairman

HsinChu, Taiwan (January 17, 2012) – Airoha Technology Corp.’s board of directors has approved the candidacy of Chris Kao as the new Corporate Chairman, effects  immediately. Mr. Kao is Executive Advisor of executive office at MediaTek, and now accompanies together with CEO David Chang, they will lead the company forward to embrace new challenges and opportunities in the new era.

Prior to joining MediaTek, Mr. Kao served as the Founder & Chairperson of “Ralink Technology” for more than 10 years. Mr. Kao was also a Co-Founder of “Macronix International” and served as Vice President for almost 10 years. Prior to Macronix, Mr. Kao worked in Silicon Valley, USA, and served as engineering manager in several different fields for 10 years.

Mr. Kao started his first 10 years career in Silicon Valley of pioneering semiconductor chipset product development. During year 1989, Mr. Kao decided to return back to Taiwan for his next level of career development. Jointly with more than 30 families, the biggest group ever moved from Silicon Valley back to Taiwan, they together started “Macronix International”. After almost 10 years serving in Macronix International, Mr. Kao decided to make another move to a new level of his semiconductor career, from “Fab” to “Fabless”. During year 2000, together with other technologist from Silicon Valley, Mr. Kao founded Ralink Technology.

Mr. Kao holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, and an MSEE from State University of New York, USA. In 2011 he received  the “winner of 2011 ERSO Award”, sponsored by Pan Wen Yuan Foundation for recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contribution to Taiwanese electronic industry!
